A cross-section of the Ballinrobe community turned out last night (WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH) for a Public Consultation meeting held to discuss plans to restore a town hall facility in Ballinrobe.
Members of local clubs and private individuals came along to the meeting in St Joseph’s Primary School at which preliminary plans were outlined.
It is hoped the new building will be a centre for artistic, cultural and civic life in Ballinrobe.
“We got great feedback from people on the preliminary plans we produced, and, most of all, we are very heartened by the level of support for the facility around Ballinrobe,” said Michael.
Architectural and planning consultant Donal McCormack presented the plans, which include a large performance space, ancillary meeting and general purpose rooms.
The old town hall was knocked in 1999, and the current campaign follows a number of efforts to restore the building over the past 15 years.
The plans will be on display in Ballinrobe Credit Union at a special drop-in session on Saturday, November 15th, between 12noon and 3pm.
